Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) is the international photography competition designed to find the very best in travel photography.
Anyone can enter the competition – young or old, amateur or professional and there’s a total prize package worth over £50,000. Prizes this year include trips to India, Brazil, The Bahamas, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Mozambique and South Africa, plus some of the most sophisticated professional photographic equipment around, including a Hasselblad H2 kit, Mamiya 7II rangefinder camera plus lenses, the latest Fujifilm Pro digital SLR camera, Wacom pen tablets, leather print portfolio books from Plastic Sandwich and a range of HP printers, including a Hewlett Packard 90gp large format printer.
TPOTY isn't easy to win. The competition has four portfolio categories and a single image category. Each category has a different theme and between them they cover every possible aspect of travel photography.
The Travel Photographer of the Year 2006 will be the photographer who the judges feel demonstrates the greatest skill, diversity and creativity in two different portfolio categories - and there are great prizes for the overall winner and for each individual category winner.
Travel Photographer of the Year – Journey One is a collection of the winning, commended, judges' favourite images and a selection of other great images from TPOTY 2003 and 2004.
Journey Two, featuring images from TPOTY 2005 and 2006, will be published at the end of this year, so why not start collecting the series now? Go on, take a journey!
