 Do you dream of owning a one-off work of art by Grayson Perry? Maybe you have a hankering for your very own Paula Rego sketch? Whatever your secret passion, your dream may come true for just £35 with RCA Secret, the annual postcard exhibition and fundraising sale at the Royal College of Art.
Already, the show has received work from Damien Hirst, Paula Rego, David Bailey, Julian Opie, Grayson Perry, Tracey Emin, Cornelia Parker, Olafur Eliasson, Hussein Chalayan and David Shrigley to name a few. The secret part of the sale is that the identity of your chosen artist remains unknown until you’ve bought the postcard and the signature is revealed on the back.
 The first sale day begins at 8am on 25 November - but be sure to get there early if you have your heart set on a particular card: there are some serious fans out there! Buyers can purchase up to four of the mini-masterpieces on each of the specified sale days at the College.
Part of the fun of this eagerly anticipated event is that you have to be there in person to buy the cards; they can’t be reserved in advance and you can’t phone in or order by email. Potential buyers will also be able to view all the postcards on-line from the first day of the show at www.rca.ac.uk. This means that buyers living outside London only need to make one visit on the sale day.
Even if you don’t spot a postcard by a well-known name this time, you could go home with a star of the future. Some of the contributing artists are current students or recent graduates of the Royal College of Art and other leading art colleges, destined to go on to big things.
