Plateau Restaurant

Plateau sits in a prime 4th floor location at the top of the Canada Place building opposite the tower and with views across the lawns and sculptures of Canada Square Park.

Plateau offers two distinct dining areas divided by a central semi-open view kitchen - a bar and grill and a more formal main restaurant each with their own individual outside terraces - two bars, a private dining room and a cigar room. A principal feature of the space is the long glass frontage and part glazed ceiling, which swathes the rooms in reflected natural light.

The main restaurant will seat 80, the bar 12 and the outside terrace 28. The private room can seat up to 25 people. When the private room is not in use, the tall glass doors can be folded back to create additional restaurant seating. The chef is Tim Tolley whose career includes seven years working with Jean Georges Vongerichten in both New York and London. General Manager, Bertrand Pierson, also worked with Jean Georges Vongerichten at Vong, The Berkeley Hotel, London and Market in Paris.

The Bar & Grill is a cheerful, light and relaxed place seating 60 in the main area, 30 on the terrace and 25 in the bar. The menu here will offer classic grills and their accompaniments, crustacea, salads and dishes from the rotisserie. Sample dishes include: frogs legs beignet; suckling pig with candied yams; and Billingsgate fish pie.

Designers, Conran and Partners, have created an oasis of calm above the hustle and bustle of Canary Wharf. The organic colour scheme is based on the shades of an olive tree with varying degrees of greens, greys, browns and subtle hues of blue. This scheme coupled with the use of quality materials results in a serene, light interior.

The cigar room with its purple, scarlet and orange upholstery and the specially commissioned Neil Gilks abstract mural will add a central splash of colour to the space. It's a room as an artwork. Classic designs from the 1950s have been used such as Eero Saarinen tulip chairs and tables with beautiful Italian marble table tops, Harry Bertoia chrome chairs with soft blue upholstery and a simple, stylish David Mellor modern-classic cutlery range from 1957. The furnishings bring 1950s Manhattan glamour to Canary Wharf.
