The Photographers' Gallery has secured 16-18 Ramillies Street in Soho, securing a site for the next stage in the development of the Gallery. Set in the heart of the creative and media industries and beside Oxford Street, it is an ideal new location for The Photographers' Gallery. The plans for the new building are in the initial stages and the Gallery is working to a five-year timeline.
Moving to 16-18 Ramillies Street will allow for a significantly expanded exhibition programme and also, for the first time, the development of a comprehensive on-site photography education and events programme. The extra space and world-class conditions will allow the showing of the very best UK and international photography exhibitions.
In support of this project, a number of changes will be seen at The Photographers' Gallery over the next year. The environmental conditions will be improved at 8 Great Newport Street to ensure the securing of a number of key international exhibitions and loans, the external and internal areas of the Gallery will be upgraded and the website will be further redeveloped. This is in addition to the launch of the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize (formerly the Citigroup Photography Prize), which now covers the whole of Europe.
