The bleak reality of life for the underclass in late 1960s Britain was exposed by the film maker Ken Loach in his first feature Kes. Loach looks back at the social and economic realities of the decade and the bursting of the 1960s bubble in this talk at Tate Britain.TALK STARTS AT 6.30PM AT TATE BRITAIN.

Oscar-winning art director Ken Adam defined the futuristic 1960s aesthetic with his sets for James Bond films like Dr No and Goldfinger. He revisits the decade in conversation with cultural historian and Arts Council chairman Sir Christopher Frayling at the Design Museum.

IAN CALLUM

One of the world's most accomplished car designers, Ian Callum is design director of Jaguar, where he has developed the new S-type as well as the Aston Martin DB7. He will be discussing the future of car design to coincide with our exhibition of The E-type.
DISCOVERING CONSTANCE SPRY
Saturday 6 November 2004 - 10pm TO 4.30pm
One of the most important influences on domestic design in mid-20th century Britain was the florist and social reformer Constance Spry. To mark our Spry retrospective, this day of talks and exhibition tours will explore her legacy culminating in a flower arranging workshop.
PLACES COST £45 EACH OR £35 TO DESIGN MUSEUM SUPPORTERS + CONCESSIONS.
All Design Museum Talks start at 7.15pm. Galleries open at 6.30pm and close at 9.00pm. Thanks to Marks & Spencer you can also enjoy a glass of wine before the Talk. Tickets cost £10 each or £6 each to supporters of the Design Museum who are also entitled to priority booking. Tickets at £6 are also available to teachers and concessions. For The 1960s Conversations, tickets cost £7 and £4 to supporters of Tate and the Design Museum.
