Jocelyn Warner's new wallpaper, Kaleido, takes its direction from the optical 'wonder' of kaleidoscopes. The many fleeting images seen by looking into a kaleidoscope are pulled together and combined into ornate embroidery that floats and flutters along the wall.
|
Kaleido is an optical graphic print, its pattern soft with the edges blurred slightly, giving the paper a sense of 3D relief. Its folklore Arts & Crafts feel is reminiscent from a time when things looked and were hand made, with the contemporary twist being achieved with its use of iridescent links and its computer-generated imagery.
Playing with over laying of circles, a symmetrical pattern emerges that has an appearance of fine cut crystals and butterfly wings; stars and petal shapes that glisten to form a gemstone that is opaque and translucent.
Kaleido comes in six striking colour combinations - each giving the design its own unique identity.
Taking her starting point from nature, Warner transforms images into simple forms, leading to a new interpretation of wallpaper, enabling you to use it to create a unique sense of style.
