Christine Van Der Hurd remains one of the few carpet designers who still works by producing original hand drawn art work as the basis for her creations.
|
Since the launch of her first carpet collection in the 1980's, Van Der Hurd has wowed the design world with her bold, cutting-edge pattern and has esablished new carpeting trends with her experimentation in techniques and materials.
Her exquisite creations adorn such locations as Claridges Hotel, the Federal Reserve Bank, Saks Fifth Avenue and Browns of London. Van Der Hurd's designs are not only appreciated by her clienele, but are collected by museums such as the Victoria & Albert and MOMA. Thomas Goode commissioned her to produce a range of dinnerware in porcelain, now on sale, and her exclusive range of hand-made jewllery, in precious and semi-precious stone, is sold through Paul Smith and Browns in London.
Equally desirable are the exclusive home furnishing accessories, lamps, trays and tables, designed by Van Der Hurd in collaboration with Zig Zag, her brother Edric Van Vredenburgh's company.
